Neighborhood Calendar November 15th Edition
    Piecemakers Quilt Guild
        Piecemakers  Quilt Guild  meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am -12:00pm at  the Lincoln County Senior  Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, in room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome. We also have a new class that meets on the second Thursday of each month from 10:00am - 3:00pm to provide one on one instruction to beginning quilters. Mental Health Association Support Groups
        The Mental Health Association in Cleveland County sponsors a Support Group for Survivors of Suicide. It meets the last Tuesday of every month, 11:30am - 1:30 pm at the Cleveland Memorial Library. This support group offers support to those who have lost a loved one to suicide. All members of the group, including the facilitator, have experienced this unique loss. For details, contact the Mental Health Association at 704-481-8637 or mha@clevelandcountymha.org.
        Family-to-Family Caregiver Support Group, meets every third Tuesday of the month, 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Cleveland County Red Cross (1333 Fallston Road, Shelby), Co-sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County and NAMI Rutherford/Cleveland, this support group offers a safe space for close relatives of persons suffering from a severe mental illness to share their experience with others in a similar situation. Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby
        THROUGH THE GARDEN GATE…Spend your lunch hour at the library and feed your mind! The Main Library in Shelby, Cleveland County Memorial Library, 104 Howie Drive, Shelby, is continuing the series of programs for our community that will give folks a chance to spend their lunch hour being entertained. The idea is to bring your bag lunch and the library will provide water, tea and a great program. The programs will be held in the Plaster Meeting Room and you can “come through the garden gate” entrance. The programs will be on the first and third Thursdays of every month from 12:15 to 12:45 and will feature stories, music and educational topics. The month of November’s programs are:
November 15 - Suspense and Thriller Stories with storyteller, Georgiana Wright.
Kiwanis Club, Shelby
        Kiwanis Club of Shelby meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at noon at Deer Brook Restaurant, 201 Deer Brook Drive, Shelby. 704-482-4419. Membership dues are $110 per quarter which includes meals and dues.
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, Shelby
        DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder. DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support. The support group meets every Tuesday from 6:30-8:00pm at The Episcopal Church in Shelby. Kings Mtn. Woman’s Club Hosts Breakfast
        The Kings Mtn. Woman’s Club, l09 Mtn. Street, Kings Mountain,  will host Breakfast with Santa from 7:00-10:30 am, November 17. Adult tickets are $5 and children eat for $3.00. Children can have their photo’s made by a professional photographer beginning at 8:30. (Prices are variable). The Elves Closet will be open from 8-11:00 for children to shop without their parents.  All items are $1.00 each. Contact any member for tickets or call 704 739-3561.
Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group
        The Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group will hold the November meeting at the Golden Corral, Monday, November 19, 6:00pm. Guest speaker: Glenda Horton, LMBW. Glenda is a licensed massage and body work therapist. She will share common sense solutions to pain management that can be performed at home. Feel free to bring a caregiver with you. If you are not a polio survivor, please pass this message to anyone you know who is.
The Marburger Automotive Family’s “30 Days of Thanksgiving” Canned Food Drive
        Formerly know as “Shelby Motors” the all new Marburger Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram-Nissan family invites you to join us for our 30 Days of Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive which started October 20 continuing through Tuesday, November 20. Help us feed Shelby this Thanksgiving! We know that times are often hard around the holidays, and at Marburger Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram-Nissan, we want to help ease the burden this Thanksgiving. We will be hosting a 30 day canned food drive to benefit the local food bank in an effort to relieve local hunger this Thanksgiving.
        However, your donations will not go un-rewarded! As a thank you we will be offering special service deals for your donations. For every can you donate, you will receive percentage off of your total service bill up to $50, with a maximum of a 10% discount. For instance: 1 can = 2.5% discount; 3 cans = 5% discount; 5 cans = 7.5% discount; 10 cans = 10% discount.
        Cash donations will also be accepted to be used for the purchase of turkey(s) to be served on Thanksgiving Day at local shelters.

Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care & Health Service, Shelby
        Life Enrichment Center, 110 Life Enrichment Blvd., Shelby, will have meeting for caregivers of people diagnosed with dementia, Tuesday, November 20, at 5:30pm. The topic is “Finding Joy in Caring for Someone with Dementia”. Vickie Wyatt will share how she found joy in caring for family. A brief candlelight service will follow when those diagnosed with dementia are remembered and honored to observe November as National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and National Caregivers Month.         The PTO of Springmore Elementary School would like to announce the 1st Annul Springmore Holiday Gift Show, Saturday, December 1, 10:00am - 3:00pm. Free admission.
