Order of The Eastern Star Bazaar and Bake Sale
Camp Call Chapter No. 287 Order of the Eastern Star will be holding their first Bazaar and Bake Sale on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 8:00am until 12:00noon. This will be held at Camp Call Masonic Lodge, Highway 226, N. 3802 Polkville Road, Shelby, NC. There will be sausage and ham biscuits for sale along with handmade craft items and baked goods.
Post-Polio Support Group Meeting
To celebrate Polio Awareness Month, The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group October meeting will be held at the Carousel at the Shelby City Park, 901 W. Sumter Street on Monday, October 16, 2017, at 6:00pm. Instead of bringing our own supper, we will enjoy a picnic and a time of fellowship together. City of Shelby Fall Bulky Item Pick-up
The City of Shelby Solid Waste Department is having the Fall Bulky Item Pick-up the week of October 16-19, 2017. Beginning on October the 13th, you may begin placing items such as: furniture, boxes, mattresses, and bagged clothes, etc., on the curbside without being subject to citations or fines. Please DO NOT place any items in the street or mix these items with limbs, leaves, or grass. The Solid Waste Department does not pick-up items such as: appliances, electronics, televisions, tires, building materials, paints, oils, and batteries, these items may be taken to the Cleveland County Landfills. Please have your bulky items available by 7:00am, they will be picked up only on the same day during the week that your garbage is scheduled for pick up. Items placed or left on the curb after October 19, 2017 will be subject to citations and fines. There will be no leaf or brush collection during bulky item pick up week.
Community Wide Yard Sale, Waco
A Community Yard Sale will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017, 8:00am - 2:00pm at the Waco Community Building, S. Main St., Waco, NC. Hamburgers and Hotdog sales 11-2 with proceeds from the food sales going to local charities. The event is sponsored by the Town of Waco. The Norsemen Motorcycle Club Partners with The Salvation Army to help Kids
The Norsemen Motorcycle Club Partners with The Salvation Army to help local kids Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 4:00pm, at 119 Lynch St., Forest City, NC. The Army's Angel Tree program serves children up to age 12 to insure that each child has something for Christmas. New, unwrapped toys and clothing can be dropped off at boxes around the county or at Norsemen MC Club House, where the dinner will be held. Hospice Cleveland Gaston Lincoln Counties
Hospice Cleveland County, Shelby, NC, will hold a Hospice Training Class Monday, October 23, Tuesday, October 24 and Thursday, October 26, 2017, 9:00am - noon or 5:30pm - 8:30pm, at the Hospice Administration Building, 951 Wendover Heights Drive., Shelby, NC. It is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to our patients in Cleveland, Gaston, and Lincoln Counties. This course is free. To get credit for the entire course, you will need to attend all days at one of the times offered. Hospice Cleveland County exists to provide high quality skilled compassionate care and support for individuals with a life-limiting illness, their families, and the community, regardless of ability to pay. Murphey's 23rd Annual Toy Run to benefit Shriner's Burn Center and Oxford Orphanage Masonic Home for Children and Kings Mountain Police Department Shop with a Cop will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017. Ruby C. Hunt YMCA - Turkey Trot
Cleveland County's largest 5K, 20th Annual Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Walk, Run and Kids Fun Run will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017. 5K - 8:30am or 1/2 Mile - Kids Fun Run, 9:30am. Benefits the "We Build People Scholarship Fund". Held at Gardner-Webb University at the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center.
