Bar H Arena, Boiling Springs
        The things of the night will soon gather at the Bar H Arena in Boiling Springs, NC for the Annual Bar H Haunted Hayride and Indoor Maze. The frights will take place on Friday, October 31. The event begins at dark (approx. 7:30) and will go until the lines of fright seekers are gone. The Shelby Missionary Methodist Church will be serving some great treats so be sure to come early. The Pa-Paw Patch Preschool, Vale
        The Pa-Paw Patch Preschool, located at the intersection of Hwy 10 and Cat Square Rd., in Vale, NC, will be holding a “Fall Festival” and “Open House”, Saturday, November 1, 11:00-4:00. Games, prizes, bouncy house, face painting, balloon artistry, 1/2 and 1/2 drawing, bake sale, food and more.
Holiday Gift Galleria, Shelby
        The holiday Gift Galleria is held by the junior charity league to help raise money to provide clothes for children in need. There will be over 60 vendors with all sorts of items for sale. Get your Christmas shopping done early! The dates are Friday, October 31 from 10-6:30, Saturday, November 1 from 10-6 and Sunday, November 2 from 12-4.
Hospice Cleveland County
        Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC will be holding the following events in November:
        Hospice Volunteer Training Class: November 3, 4 and 6, 1:00-5:00pm or 5:30-9:30pm, at Kings Mountain Hospice House, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC. Hospice Training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free.         Fall Memorial Service: Sunday, November 9, 2:00pm., at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church, 116 Poplar Drive, Grover, NC. Patients that have died March 1, 2014 through August 31, 2014 will be remembered. Family members will receive a special invitation.
        Coping with the Holidays - Tuesday, November 11, 11:30am - 1:00pm, at the Hospice Cleveland County Admin. Building. The Holidays can be a very difficult time for those who are grieving.         On November 6, Ron McCollum, Outreach Coordinator with the Foothills Farmer’s Market will share information about Local Foods and big plans for the Market in our community. The Garden Gate on November 20 will feature music and stories by Georgiana Wright. Garden Gate Programs are presented at the library every first and third Thursday from 12:15 to 12:45.  Bag lunches are welcome and beverages are served.
Broad River Genealogical Society, Shelby
        The Broad River Genealogical Society presents: The Excavation of Fort San Juan, at the Indian Village of Joara by John Krebs (Modern-day Morganton, NC), Tuesday, November 9, 3:00pm, at The Neal Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Dr., Shelby, NC. Park and enter at the back of the Senior Center). Hear John Krebs discuss the Fort, its history and the excavations and discoveries the archeologists have made.

Gardner-Webb University’s Theatre Department
        Gardner-Webb University’s Theatre Arts Department is proud to present: Getting Out November 19-22, 7:30pm and November 23, 2:30pm, Millennium Playhouse, Gardner-Webb University, 110 South Main St., Boiling Springs, NC. Marsha Norman’s play Getting Out is set today in Louisville, Kentucky. When released from prison Arlene returns to a run-down apartment, intent on starting her life over. Rebellious and disruptive as a young girl, she has found strength in religion and wants to put her youth behind her. 17th Annual Earl Christmas Parade

        All Area Churches are invited to participate, promote and help celebrate “Joy to the World”. There will be a truck in the parade and one at New Hope Baptist Church to collect can goods for “Feed the Hungry”. Men and youth are needed at each truck to load food. Burns High School Class of 1974
        The Burns High School Class of 1974 will celebrate its 40th class reunion Saturday, November 1, 6:45-11:00, at the Owl’s Eye Winery, 1414 Metcalf Road, Shelby, NC. The doors open at 6:45pm and dinner will be served at 7:30. There will be a cash bar with wine and beer available. The cost is $30 per person. Dress is casual. There will also be a special welcoming station at the home football game on Friday, October 31 as Burns vs. Crest at 7:30pm. Next meeting is Saturday, October 18, 3:00pm, at Owl’s Eye Winery.
