More Info: The Cleveland County Veterans Advisory Council is sponsoring the 4th annual Veterans Day Parade. Parade begins at Washington and Graham Streets. Parade entry forms are available at the CC Veterans Service Office, CC Admn. Bldg., 311 E. Marion St., Shelby NC. Forms can be obtained by emailing TVMustang68@bellsouth.net or calling 704-435-1516. The 2019 parade theme is "Women in the Military." The annual Veterans Day Program follows at 11 AM on the south lawn of the Earl Scruggs Center in Uptown Shelby. Saturday, November 16, 10:00 am, Are You Fire Wise? Visitor Center. Teaches people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encourages neighbors to work together and act now to prevent losses. Join fire professionals for a classroom presentation followed by a site visit to a Firewise community to see these principles in action. Learn to tie a wet fly from the natural hatch. Class will be offered to ages 10 and older. There is no cost for the class, all materials and tools will be provided. Class is limited to 12 people. Call the office (828-433-4772) to register.

Saturday, November 23, 2:00 pm, Primitive Outdoor Survival Class II. Outdoor Amphitheater near the Jacob Fork Parking Area.
This class will be on different types of shelters and weather in the long-term survival situations.
Sunday, November 24, 2:00 pm Fly Fishing on the Jacob Fork. Visitor Center. This class will introduce Tenkara Fishing - a Japanese method of fly fishing that is used in mountain streams. Bring your own equipment, there will be limited equipment available to borrow if needed. This class will be offered to ages 10 and older. All NC Wildlife fishing regulations apply, and all participants will need a valid NC Fishing License.
Saturday, November 30, 11:00 am, TRACK Trail Trek. Cicero Branch Parking Area. This is suitable for all ages, but particularly exciting for children ages 2-10. Meet 1.5 miles down the road from the Visitor Center. Be prepared for 0.5-1mile round trip adventure.
Saturday, November 30, 2:00 pm, Let's Talk Turkey. Visitor Center. Join a Park Ranger and learn about Wild Turkeys in the South Mountains.
