Piecemakers Quilt Guild
        Piecemakers  Quilt Guild  meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am -12:00pm at  the Lincoln County Senior  Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome. We also have a new class that meets on the second Thursday of each month from 10:00am - 3:00pm to provide one on one instruction to beginning quilters. Mental Health Association Support Groups
        The Mental Health Association in Cleveland County sponsors a Support Group for Survivors of Suicide. It meets the last Tuesday of every month, 11:30am - 1:30 pm at the Cleveland Memorial Library. This support group offers support to those who have lost a loved one to suicide.         Family-to-Family Caregiver Support Group, meets every third Tuesday of the month, 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Cleveland County Red Cross (1333 Fallston Road, Shelby, NC 28150) Co-sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Cleveland County and NAMI Rutherford/Cleveland, this support group offers a safe space for close relatives of persons suffering from a severe mental illness to share their experience with others in a similar situation. The Shelby Lions Club
        The  Shelby  Lions  Club  has  made  changes  in  its  meeting  schedule. The  first  Tuesday  of  each  month  will  be  a  business  meeting held  at  the  Lions  Senior  Village  on  North  Morgan  Street. The  regular  membership  meeting  will  be  held  on  the  second  Tuesday of  each  month  at  Deerbrook  Country  Club. Shelby Lions are making this change to encourage local residents to take a look at the club and consider getting involved.  Shelby Lions are active in the community and offer fellowship and fun to members.  The meeting schedule change will help us to keep our membership dues low, reduce the monthly meeting time, and still offer the fellowship and community involvement that many are looking for. Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, Shelby
        DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder. DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support. The support group meets every Tuesday from 6:30-8:00pm at The Episcopal Church in Shelby, NC. Sunset Cemetery History on Tour
Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care & Health Service invites the public to enjoy a walking tour of Sunset Cemetery, in all its autumn splendor, Thursday, Oct. 11, 3:00pm. With reverence and humor for her subject, Dr. June Hobbs, faculty member of Gardner-Webb University, will entertain as well as educate. Meet at the front gate (behind the Boys Club and Episcopal Church of the Redeemer on West Sumter Street) to join the 1 1/2-2-hour tour. There is no charge. Wear comfortable shoes. Hospice Cleveland County Upcoming Events
        Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC will be holding the upcoming events:
        Saturday, October 13 and Saturday October 20, 9:00am- 3:00pm, Hospice Training Class - Kings Mountain House. Hospice training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hr course is free and there is no obligation to volunteer. Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care & Health Service, Shelby
        Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care & Health Service, 110 Life Enrichment Blvd., Shelby, NC is having a program for caregivers with dementia and will answer questions, Tuesday, October 16, 5:30pm - 7:00pm. The program is free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend even if arriving late. The meeting is informal. A sitter service is available at no charge to the family for the person diagnosed with dementia, but a reservation is required by October 9 to use the sitter service. Call 704-484-0405 to make the reservation. The Life Enrichment Center is an adult day health service, which has been caring for people with dementia for more than 32 years.

Kings Mountain Woman’s Club
        Kings Mountain Woman’s Club will be having their annual Fall Festival, Wednesday, October 17, 108 E. Mountain Street in Kings Mountain. Turkey or ham with all the trimmings will be served from 11:30-1:30 and 5:30-7:00pm, eat in or take out. Adult tickets are $10 or children 12 and under $6. A country store, and floral displays and “Trash Formation” will also be available. Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby
        Cleveland County Memorial Library, 104 Howie Drive, Shelby, NC is embarking  on a series of programs for our community that will give folks a chance to spend their lunch hour being entertained. The idea is to bring your bag lunch and the library will provide water, tea and a great program. The programs will be held in the Plaster Meeting Room and you can “come through the garden gate” entrance. The programs will be on the first and third Thursdays of every month from 12:15-12:45 and will feature stories, music and educational topics. The month of October’s programs are: October 18 – Suspense and Thriller Stories with storyteller, Georgiana Wright. Look for future announcements of this exciting series that will run through May!
