Firefighters for Life
Firefighters for Life - 10 Days of Guns. 500 tickets sold for 10 guns. For each additional 50 tickets sold, 1 more gun will be given away. Guns provided by McCrackin Marine. Food Distribution, Casar
Corinth Baptist Church in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina will have a Food Distribution Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 9:00am - 12:00 noon. Corinth Baptist Church is located at 324 Corinth Church Road in Casar. The distribution will be in the basement of the new fellowship building. We have Food Distributions the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. The clothing closet is also open during this time. Everyone welcome as we share our ministries with the community.
Cleveland County Rescue Mission
Cleveland County Rescue Mission will host a BBQ Luncheon & Drop-In Open House Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. Lafayette St., Shelby. Cost for meal tickets is $10 per person and all proceeds will be used to put the finishing touches on the new Heart 2 Heart Place, an emergency shelter for women and children. Heart 2 Heart Place is part of the women's division of CCRM and will provide food, shelter, medical assistance, and a renewed sense of self-worth for many of Cleveland County's homeless women and children. The event will feature private tours of the renovated facility at 301 N. Washington St., Shelby with lunch catered by Wayne Bridges BBQ. The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group
The Foothills Post-Polio Support Group, formerly called the Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group, will hold the September meeting at the conference room of the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 6:00pm. The conference room is located at the back of the building. The center is located off Hwy 18 North on Life Enrichment Blvd, just north of Cornerstone Dentistry. Each person attending should bring his/her own meal. Drinks- coffee and water - will be provided. The program will be given by Dean Kistler as he presents his experiences with polio. Walmart DC 6070 will be hosting the 2015 CMN 4 man Captain's Choice Golf tournament at Riverbend Golf Course Monday, September, 21, 2015 (rain date 9-28-15). Cost is $60 per player or $240 per team. Pleasant Ridge Outfitters National Hunting and Fishing Day Event
Pleasant Ridge Outfitters. 3931 Vassey Road, Shelby, NC off of Pleasant Ridge Church Road will be holding a National Hunting and Fishing Day Event, on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will host their 42nd Annual Rose Show on Saturday, September 26, 2015. This year the rose show will be at the Cleveland County Agricultural Office, 130 South Post Road, Shelby, NC (Hwy 180 next to Food Lion). The rose show is open to the public from 1:00 - 4:00pm and admission is free. They will have exhibitors from NC, SC, VA and TN and the public is invited to see the beautiful display of roses. Consulting Rosarians will be available to answer your questions and they will have rose arrangements for sale. The rose show is their gift to the community.
2015 Genealogy Fair, Gastonia
Save the Date for the 2015 Genealogy Fair, Saturday, September 26, 2015, 1:00pm to 5:00pm, at the Main Library, 1555 E. Garrison Blvd, Gastonia. Many local history and genealogy organizations plan on attending the fair. The library's auditorium will be devoted to exhibitors' tables. A table will be provided for each organization. You are welcome to bring any literature that your organization produces including publications that you may wish to sell. You are encouraged to bring along anything interesting you can use as display or hands-on material to get visitors interested in family and local history in general and your organization in particular. The auditorium is equipped with wi-fi if you wish to use your laptop to interact with visitors. Library staff will lead sessions for visitors about beginning genealogy and using databases such as Ancestry Library Edition, Heritage Quest, and Family Search. Please make plans today for joining them in this exciting event that will spread the word on your organization.

Thursday, October 1, 2015 - 9:00am - Noon or 4:00pm - 7:00pm - Memory Bear Workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to make a teddy bear out of loved one's shirt or other article of clothing. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Please call one of our Grief Counselors at 704-487-4677 to reserve your space. Last workshop of the year, and will be at the Hospice Cleveland County Administration Building.
Tuesdays, October 6 & 13, Thursdays, October 8 & 15, 2015, 5:30pm - 8:30pm - Hospice Volunteer Training Class. Open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice care and the services provided to the community. This 12-hour course is free. To get credit for the entire course, you will need to attend all days of the times offered. For more information, contact 704-751-3573, ext. 111. This will be at the Hospice Cleveland County Administration Building.
Tuesdays, October 6, 13, 20, 27 & November 3, 10, 2015, 5:30pm - 7:00pm - "Reflections" Sharing Group. This grief sharing group meets for six weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one. If you plan to attend one of our groups, please make every effort to attend all six sessions. Living Healthy with Diabetes Workshop
Isothermal Planning & Development Area Agency on Aging, NC Cooperative Extension, and the Life Enrichment Center in Kings Mountain, NC is sponsoring a "Living Healthy with Diabetes" workshop. If you have type 2 diabetes or are caring for someone with diabetes, this workshop is for you. The workshop will run for 6 weeks, with a 2 1/2 hour session each week, starting on October 1 and ending on November 12, 2015. Learn ways to better manage your diabetes and get results that show you how to feel better and help you control this chronic condition. Health Screening Bus at Cleveland County Fair
The Shelby Missions Camp is bringing the new NCBM Health Screening Bus to the Cleveland County Fair for 10 days, October 1-10, 2015. This is a great opportunity to be screened to identify health problems early. The bus will be staffed with certified medical staff. Free Health screening will include: Hemoglobin A1C for diabetes screening, Finger stick glucose, Cholestech LDX for Total Cholesterol and HDL results, Body Mass Index calculation, Depression screening, vital signs assessment. Hours of operation are 3:00-9:00pm most days. Sunday, October 4, hours are 1:00-6:00pm. Tuesday, October 6, they will start at 12:00 noon (senior adult day) and Wednesday, October 7, 2015, starting at 11:00am after the fair workers breakfast and worship. Somerset Court, Cherryville
Somerset Court, 401 West Academy St., Cherryville, NC, will be holding a "Western Day" event, Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 1:00-3:00pm. Entertainment will be "The Melody Express". There will be face painting and animal balloons for the kids. Chili beans, cornbread, apple pie and root beer floats will be served. Door prizes will be raffled off. All money that is raised will be used for activities. In order to make this happen, they are asking for donations. They need hay bails, pumpkins, bandannas and cowboy hats. If rain, the event will be moved to the dining room.
Singing on the Farm, Crouse

Chevelle is the three year old daughter of Hot Rod Terry and Mandy Willis and has been diagnosed with megacolon, a rare condition where her colon is three times normal size. She has been traveling to Duke and may need to go to Boston, Massachusetts to see specialists. Please help raise money for medical expenses.
