Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care and Health Services
        Do you understand what your loved one needs? Join Life Enrichment Center Tuesday, September 16, 5:30-7:00pm, to discuss the five senses from the point of view of individuals living with dementia and a discussion about certain techniques that can be used to help them. The International Demolition Derby
        The International Demolition Derby will be at the Bar H Arena in Boiling Springs, NC, Saturday, September 13, starting at 7:30pm each day. Carolina DWI Services, APNC, NAADAC & SAMHSA
        Carolina DWI Service, APNC, NAADAC & SAMHSA is sponsoring a Free Movie, Thursday, September 11, 5:00pm: “The Anonymous People” which is a feature documentary film about the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. The movie starts at 5:30pm sharp, at the LeGrand Center, 1800 East Marion Street, Shelby, NC. There will be a Recovery Messaging specialist panel discussion following the movie. South Mountains Fire Rescue Annual BBQ and Bluegrass, Connelly Springs
        South Mountains Fire Rescue, 8204 Gus Peeler Road, Connelly Springs, NC, will hold their Annual BBQ and Bluegrass, Saturday, September 13, 4:00pm - until. $8 plate. Plate includes: BBQ, beans, cole slaw, roll, dessert, & tea. Sandwiches available. Music starts at 3:00pm. Broad River Genealogical Society, Shelby
        The Broad River Genealogical Society, 1145 County Home Road, Shelby, NC (directly across from Putnam Baptist Church) will be presenting their General Meeting, Sunday, September 14, at Neal Senior Center, 100 T R Harris Dr., Shelby, NC, 3:00pm. General public and members welcome. The speaker will be Tom Magnuson, Founder and CEO of Trading Path Preservations Association (TPA), Hillsborough, NC. Tom will be giving a presentation on where the early settlers traveled before 1780, how they migrated into this area, what trails, and paths they traveled on and how our early pioneers moved into this part of the Carolinas. Tom is a military historian, and graduate of San Jose State University. He is also a North Carolina Humanities Council Scholar. The Broad River Genealogical Society Archive is open: every Tuesday night from 6-8; 2nd and 3rd Mondays from 12 noon to 4:00pm; 2nd and 3rd Saturdays from 9:00am - 1:00pm; other times with prior arrangements.
The Town of Waco
        The Town of Waco will hold the monthly meeting on September 15, 7:00pm, at the Town Hall, located at 222 AW Black Street, Waco. Meeting is open to anyone that may want to attend.
        A special meeting has been called to discuss the possible road repairs on Devinney Road on September 16, 6:00 pm, and is open to anyone. Residents of Devinney Road need to attend and express their concerns or questions at that time.
Cleveland County Memorial Library, Shelby
        As the air begins to cool and the leaves begin to turn, add the Garden Gate lunchtime programs held at Cleveland County Memorial Library to your calendar for the fall season. Georgiana Wright is returning to tell ghost stories and share music on the third Thursday of each month. On September 18 she’ll tell ‘The Path of Dead Roses’, a haunting tale by Samantha Frazer Gordon and on October 16 the ‘Cadillac Mermaid” by Nick Zegurac will get you in the mood for Halloween. Each Garden Gate program takes place from 12:15 to 12:45 with beverages served. Bring a bag lunch and enjoy a little entertainment with friends on your midday break. The October 2 topic is TBA, but on November 6 Ron McCollum, Outreach Coordinator for the Foothills Farmers’ Market, will share their mission of making fresh healthful food available to all members of our community. December 4 promises delightful music of the season.  Remember the first and third Thursdays of each month from 12:15 ‘til 12:45 at the Library. Crest Middle School Hosts Blood Drive, Shelby
        Crest Middle School, 315 Beaver Dam Church Rd., Shelby, NC, will be hosting a Community Blood Drive Thursday, September 18, 1:30-6:30pm at Crest Middle School. Email agates@clevelandcountyschools.org for an appointment. Walk-ins welcome.
Cleveland County Arts Council
        The Cleveland County Arts Council will sponsor “Art of Sound”  (AOS), which is a music festival by and for lovers of the arts. AOS will be the finale for the season. The date is September 18-20. The festival is in uptown Shelby, NC, the home of Earl Scruggs and Don Gibson. It is held on the historic court square and nestled in several venues that afford the listener an up-close experience with the artists. The venues are tucked away at a variety of indoor stages around the square. AOS prides itself on a presentation of a variety of traditional music styles. You might have bluegrass or jazz on one stage, then Cajun, country,  rock, or old time on the next.
Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center
        Council on Aging/Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Drive, Shelby, NC, will sponsor the following events:
        “Bingo” - Each Monday Night (except holidays). Doors open at 5:30 (no admittance after 7:00pm). Jackpot - 60 People or more $500. 60 People or less $300. Public invited 12 years old and up.     
        Coming in September (Shelby Health Fair) - Friday, September 19, 8:00am - 11:00am, at COA/Neal Senior Center. Services include: Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, Height and Weight, Wellness Education, Nurse Counseling, Carolina Healthcare Mobile Mammography and lots more will be offered. Disc Golf Tournament Fundraiser for South Mountain Christian Camp
         Disc Golf Tournament to be held at South Mountain Disc Golf Course Saturday, September 20. 3rd Annual Dale Sollars Autumn Classic is open to all disc golfers. A $25 event registration includes players pak, lunch and prizes. This is fundraiser for South Mountain Christian Camp presented by the Foothills Disc Golf Coalition and sponsored by PPG Industries and AE Global Media. Sponsors are still needed with door prizes and bag stuffer items. Lincolnton Lions Club
        Lincolnton Lions Club Sponsors three parking lots at the 42nd Annual Lincolnton/Lincoln County Apple Festival Saturday, September 20. Plan to attend. The Lincolnton Lions Club will be charging $5 for you to park your car, motorcycle, truck, SUV, and van in three Downtown Lincolnton Businesses parking lots as follows: Raymond James Financial Services, 517 East Main Street; First Citizen Bank, 112 North Laurel Street (behind Don’s BP Station); First Citizen Bank, 425 East Main Street (parking lot near their ATM Machine). Highways 27 and East Main Street will be closed and detour signs displayed rerouting traffic to and from the 42nd  Annual Lincolnton/Lincoln County Apple Festival, festival goers wishing to park at any of the Lions Club Parking Lots should turn right at City of Lincolnton Police Department onto Flint Street. Go 1 Block and turn left onto Sycamore Street. Go 1/10 mile until you see Lions in their yellow vest, golf shirts, directing people with their red plags into one of the their three parking lots.
        The Lincolnton Lions Club will also be selling brooms, mops, Camp Dogwood Raffle Tickets, and Kazoos, and Patriotic Badges in their parking lots. Cost of Individual Brooms: $5 children’s straw  broom; $5 children’s mop; $8 Synthetic Soft Sweep Broom; $9 Household Straw Broom; $12 Industrial/Patio Straw Broom; Cost of Individual Kazoos & Patriotic Badges, $1.00 each.
        Camp Dogwood Raffle Tickets are $1 per ticket or book of 12 tickets purchased by same person for $10. You may win one of two $200 Gift Certificates. Grand Prize winner will have a choice of one of three 2015 vehicles to be announced.
        Proceeds from Lincoln County Apple Festival Parking Lots and other items sold will provide services to the blind/visually impaired, purchase eyeglasses/eye examinations for the needy.
Hounds Campground, Kings Mountain

Kings Mountain Little Theatre
        Kings Mountain Little Theatre will be hosting auditions for the upcoming production of “JUNIE B. JONES, JINGLE BELLS, BATMAN SMELLS”. The cast consists of 10 students ranging in ages from 14 to 20 years. They are expanding the age to 12 - 14 years to cast the character of Junie’s toy elephant. Due to another production rehearsing at theatre, auditions will be held at Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain. Auditions will be on Sunday, September 21, 2-4pm and Monday, September 22 from 6-8pm. Callbacks on Tuesday, September 23. School performance dates are November 13 & 14 with morning shows at 9:30am. The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
        The Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will host their 41st annual Rose Show on September 27. The show will be located in Cleveland Mall at the entrance next to Burkes Outlet and will be open to the public from 1:00-4:00pm. We will have rose arrangements and bud vases for sale. Everyone is invited to ‘stop and smell the roses’.
Singles Dinner Group, Shelby

Life Outreach Food & Clothing Ministry, Kings Mtn.
        Life of Worship Ministries, 403 Cherokee Street, Kings Mountain, NC, will be having a FREE Food Pantry and Clothes Closet for people in need of food and/or clothes. They are able to come once a month the 1st Wednesday thru the 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 11:00am - 1:00pm. They will need to bring their current ID. A Meal will be served every 4th Wednesday from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. This month Hot Dogs with homemade Chili and Slaw, Chip, Pork n Beans, Cake and Lemonade, will be served. Donations accepted of cash/check (any amount) non-perishable foods, household and HBA items as well as clean, new or gently used clothes. Currently really low in men’s summer clothes, jeans and shoes. ALWAYS closed on any 5th Wednesday. Volunteers are always welcome!  For more information you may call 704-884-6703.
