Firefighters for Life
Firefighters for Life - 10 Days of Guns. 500 tickets sold for 10 guns. For each additional 50 tickets sold, 1 more gun will be given away. Guns provided by McCrackin Marine. 5K Walk - Celebrate Recovery Awareness
Second Baptist, Shelby, NC will sponsor a 5k/walk run to be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 to raise awareness for the ministry of Celebrate Recovery. It is their desire that participants and those who attend this event will learn about Celebrate Recovery and in turn help spread the word about this blessed ministry that has helped hundreds of thousands of people, just like you and me overcome our past hurts, hang ups and habits. All entry fees will go to cover the cost of the event and fund needs for the ministry of Celebrate Recovery. The South Mountain Fire Rescue
The South Mountain Fire Rescue Annual BBQ and Bluegrass event will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, starting at 4:00pm. They invite you to come on out and enjoy some delicious BBQ and listen to some really great picking and grinning. There may even be a little clogging too. Shelby Lions Club
The Shelby Lions Club will be distributing USDA Commodities on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Cleveland County Fair Ground. Those who wish to come to fairground and fill out an application must live in Cleveland County. If a person is unable to come in person, they may send a note stating the number in the family, their address and their whole family income, signed by them. The distribution is based on the number in the family and the income of the household.
35th Annual Paul Porter Memorial Golf Tournament
River Bend YMCA Golf Course in Shelby, NC would like to invite you to play in the 35th Annual Paul Porter Memorial Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, benefiting the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association. Cleveland County Rescue Mission
Cleveland County Rescue Mission Hosts BBQ Luncheon and Drop-In Open House to Raise Funds For the New Emergency Shelter For Women and Children on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby, NC (300 N. Lafayette St.). Cost for meal tickets is $10 per person and all proceeds will be used to put the finishing touches on the new Heart 2 Heart Place, an emergency shelter for women and children. Heart 2 Heart Place is part of the women's division of CCRM and will provide food, shelter, medical assistance, and a renewed sense of self-worth for many of Cleveland County's homeless women and children. The event will feature private tours of the renovated facility at 301 N. Washington St. with lunch catered by Wayne Bridges BBQ. Lawndale Historical Museum
The Lawndale Historical Museum will be holding an Antique Evaluation on each Sunday through October from 2:00-4:00pm. Steven Costner of Shelby, NC will be on hand to evaluate old coins. Also, Gary Byrd from Morganton, NC will evaluate antique items. (No items too large to carry in the museum please.)
Broad River Genealogical Society, Shelby
The Broad River Genealogical Society would like for you to join them at Neal Senior Center, 100 T. R. Harris Dr., Shelby, NC, on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at 3:00pm, as they present Author Joe Epley, who will discuss his book "A Passel of Hate"; which is the story of Col. Andrew Hampton, Commander of the Rutherford County Liberty Men during the defense of Charleston and in the battle of Kings Mountain. Joe Epley is recognized internationally for his leadership in public relations. Before his retirement, he served as president of the Public Relations Society of America and was a cofounder and global chair of the Worldcom Public Relations Group. After he retired, he has turned his time and mind to researching and writing. (Park and enter at the rear of the building).

Child Support Announces Anonymous Tip Line
The Cleveland County Child Support Office has opened a new Tip Line to allow the public to anonymously report the whereabouts and any other information of noncustodial parents who may be avoiding establishment and/or enforcement of a child support order. Tipsters will be able to call the Tip Line 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. They will not be asked to leave their name or any other identifying information. When calling the Tip Line, helpful information would include the noncustodial parent's full name, date of birth, current address, phone number, place of employment, vehicle tag number, or any other information that could lead to the location of the person. The number for the Tip Line is 704-487-0661 and when prompted for an extension, dial extension 727.
Shelby No-Name Al-Anon Family Group
Shelby No-Name Al-Anon Family Group meets on Mondays from 12:00-1:00pm, at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 502 W. Sumter St., Shelby, NC. The purpose of al-anon is to provide support to friends and families of alcoholics. Anyone who is affected by someone else's use of alcohol or drugs is invited to attend.
