Nellie White Bowen

SHELBY- Nellie White Bowen, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Carl James and Addie Oaks White. She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 43 years. She had a love for cooking, tending to her flowers, and working on the farm.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Patrick Bowen; brothers, Bonnie, Norman, and Carl White Jr.; sisters, Ruth White Crow, and Pauline White Tessner.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William Thomas "Tom" Bowen, of the home; daughters, Mary Ann Bowen Skinner of Charlotte, and Nancy Bowen Terry and husband Jeff of Shelby; son, Paul Bowen of Shelby; grandchildren, Lauren Terry Holmes and husband Scott, Patrick Terry, Jared Skinner and wife Nicole, Justin Skinner and wife Kayla, Tyler Bowen, and Megan Bowen; great-grandchildren, Bethany, Brilee, Layna, and Ashlynn Skinner, Michael and Dillian Lindberg, and Brooklyn Mabe; special niece, Carolyn Smith; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: A graveside service will be held 2pm, Sunday, at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends 6-7:30pm, Friday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

CLERGY: Rev. Roy T. Byers will officiate
