Noah Garrett Hampton, age 16 of Hephzibah Church Rd passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born on March 25, 2000 in Gaston County to Glen James Hampton Jr. and Melissa Mitchell Hampton. He attended Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. Noah was a Junior at Cherryville High School where he was an honor student who always maintained a GPA above 4.0. He was very intelligent and very athletic. He played basketball and ran Cross Country. His teammates were like brothers to him and he was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Doris Mitchell.
Survivors include his father, Glen Hampton Jr. (Shyanne Miller); mother, Melissa Mitchell Hampton (Javier Moctezuma); siblings, John Mitchell (Megan), Hayley Mitchell (Jesse Borja), Abrian Hampton, Madilyn Hampton, Autumn Hampton, and Kassidy Hampton; paternal grandparents, Glen Hampton Sr. and Sherry Hampton; nephew, Francis Mitchell; and his "brothers," the Cherryville Ironmen Basketball Family.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Fain Farmer and Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
The family would like to thank the staff at Carolinas Healthcare, Cleveland and Charlotte for the care, prayers, and encouragement. Also, to the amazing community, fellow students, and previous and current basketball coaches and teammates, the love and support you have extended has been overwhelming and deeply appreciated.
