Norman “Yank” Curtis Ryan
 
 
 
 
Norman “Yank” Curtis Ryan, age 71, of W. Academy St. died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  He was born on July 26, 1942 in Middlesex Co. MA, to the late Robert Hamilton Ryan and Ruth Winifred French Ryan of Massachusetts.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy. Norman served as an Elder of the Church, went on numerous mission trips, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. 
 
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert “Bobby” Ryan Jr., Daniel Ryan, and Dennis Ryan; a step-daughter, Mary Ryan; and one step-grandchild.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Lovett Ryan; sisters, Roberta Chapman (Henry) of Framingham, MA, and Linda Ryan of Port St. Lucie, FL; step-daughters, Mary Katherine Farris and Pattie Joann Danawala; 4 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating.  Military Honors will be handled by American Legion Post #100, Cherryville.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 PM at the church prior to the service.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Academy St., Cherryville, NC 28021.
