Mr. Norris Wayne Beam, 83 of 2961 NC 274 Hwy. passed away September 16, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice.
Born January 16, 1931 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Clarence Austin Beam and Minnie Bess Beam. Wayne was retired after 38 years as a mechanic for Carolina Freight Carriers and was a member of Bess Chapel
United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Norris Wayne Beam, Jr.; four brothers, Edgar Lee, Alton, Earl and Coy Ray Beam; and six sisters, Helen Warlick, Sue Greene, Katherine Leatherman, Muriel Foster, Jane Dobbins and Polly Ledwell.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Prue Heavner Beam; son, Darrell Beam and special friend, Linda Keyes of Hickory; granddaughter, Amanda Beam and fiancé, Powell Roper of Raleigh; and a brother, Mike Beam of Cherryville.
Visitation: 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Thursday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall
Funeral Service: 3:00 PM, Thursday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church
Officiating: Revs. Nicholas Rochester, Jr. and Randi Godfrey
Burial: will follow in the church cemetery
Memorials: May be made to Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Gary Wagner, Sr., 7001 Parker Farm Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
