November Is National Hospice And Palliative Care Month
November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. During the week of November 4 – November 8, 2013, Hospice Cleveland County will be hosting a Virtual Conference on Grief, Loss and Bereavement. This week-long, “real time” conference will be broadcast over the internet to the Hospice Cleveland County administrative building, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC. The schedule of webinars is as follows:
Monday, November 4, 2013:
2:30 PM – 3:30 PM: “When the Dead Won’t Rest: Survivor Guilt Among Combat Veterans” (Scott Janssen, MSW, LCSW) or “Anticipatory Grief & Mourning: A Misnomer” (Patti Anewalt, PhD, LPC, FT) (these sessions run concurrently)
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: “How Not to (Unintentionally) Say Something Stupid: BE-ing with Those Who are Dying” (Carla Cheatham, MDiv, PhD, TRT) or “The Healing Power of Reminiscence” (Robin Edgar, BA) (these sessions run concurrently)
Tuesday, November 5 , 3013:
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM: “Dignity and Insights into the Culture of Caring” (Harvey M. Chockinov, OM, MD, PhD, FRCPC, FRSC, FCHAS)
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM: “Reaching Out to the Latino Bereaved: A Learning Process” (Deborah Gonzalez, MSW; Patti Anewalt, PhD, LCP, FT) or “Helping School Communities Manage Traumatic Loss” (Maurine Underwood, MSW) (these sessions run concurrently)
Wednesday, November 6, 2013:
2:15 – 3:30 PM: “A Single Mustard Seed – Contemplative Approaches to Grief and Loss” (Rev. Robert Chodo Campbell, and Rev. Dr. Koshin Paley Ellison, MFA, LMSW, DMin)
Thursday, November 7, 2013:
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM: “Cultural Competency and Grief” (Robin Fiorelli, LCSW)
Friday, November 8, 2013:
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM “Impact of Grief in the Workplace” (Diane Snyder Cowan, MA)
