Odis Naaman McDaniel
 

Odis Naaman McDaniel, 77, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Dixie and Annie Dixon McDaniel.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Glenn McDaniel and two sisters, Josephine Sellers and Sarah Stroup. Mr. McDaniel served his country in the National Guard.  He was an active member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where he sang in the men’s choir.  Naaman loved pottery, collecting clocks and antiques.  Naaman retired from Duke Power Company after 27 years of service.  He was a loving husband and father and loved spending time with his family. 

 

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Becky Moss McDaniel; son, Stuart McDaniel (Marinda) of Lawndale; brothers, Charles McDaniel, Bill McDaniel, Rodger McDaniel and Gerald McDaniel all of Kings Mountain, Durwood McDaniel of Shelby; sisters, Helen Roberts of Cherryville, Ruth Sanders of Kings Mountain, Martha Wright of Hickory; step-grandson, Jeramey Whitehouse (Lacey) of Texas; great-granddaughter, Katie Whitehouse of Texas.

 

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  Dr. Rit Varriale will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 prior to the service at the funeral home.  At other times the family will be at the home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Elizabeth Baptist Church, 201 N. Post Road, Shelby, NC, 28150.
