Olin Dewitt Johnson

Gaffney -- Olin Dewitt Johnson, 79, passed away Sunday, December 11th, 2016, at Mary Black Gaffney.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Marie Gault Johnson and the son of the late Forest Johnson and Lona Munn Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired as a Truck Driver and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was a former member of Buffalo Lodge 202 AFM and former Shriner. He was formerly an officer with the Blacksburg Police Department and former fireman at the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson is survived by sons, Steve Johnson, Rodger Johnson and wife, Sherry, both of Shelby, NC, Todd Johnson of Spartanburg, Terry Spurlin of Blacksburg, Marty Harris of Blacksburg, and Mike Harris of Boiling Springs, SC; daughters, Robin Johnson Heikens of Spartanburg, Kim Allison and husband, Lee, of Blacksburg, and Pamela Sarratt of Gaffney; one brother, Ernest Johnson of Pacolet; one sister, Nellie Henson of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Amy Street, Ashley Fadia, Brianna Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Lacey Johnson, Deanna Kirby, Erica Pruitt, Brandi Maynor, Phillip Allison, Jessica Byars, Dylan Harris, McKensley Harris, and Brittany Harris; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by 3 brothers, J,C. Johnson, Forest Johnson, Jr., and Walter Johnson; 2 sisters, Pauline Martin and Goldie Brown; and his grandson, Alan Street.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 16th, 2016, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 East Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Eric Sellers officiating. Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens Masoleum. Jimmy Pruitt, Bobby Collins, Walter Welch, Derek Pruitt, Chuck Martin, Jimmy Henson, Chris Johnson, and Phillip Allison will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

The family will be at their respective residences.
