One Last Splash!
At Shelby City Park’s Aquatic Center there was only five minutes left, last Monday, for these pool pals to enjoy the water. Here they are lined up, ready to take the final plunge until May 2011. The pool closed on Labor Day at 5:30 p.m. for the season. Shown left to right are Hannah, McCaulley, Rosie, Veronia, Avery, Sebastian, Cana, Grace and Max. The lifeguard on the left is Rose Eaker. The Aquatic Center was one of Shelby’s favorite places to go this summer because of the intensive heat. As cookouts fade and fall soon arrives, we get ready for football, falling leaves and the county fair. Labor Day has been celebrated for over 100 years and is recognized as the end of summer vacation time as students return to school and parents get set for cooler weather.
