Orville Lee Compton, age 79 of Glenn Oaks Dr. passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Testa Family Hospice House. He was born September 4, 1938 in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Ralph and Mabel Estes Compton. He retired from Glasgow Equipment in West Palm Beach Fla. and was a faithful member of Lawndale Baptist Church for over 20 years. Orville enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles, and tinkering with cars. He had a love for traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Carrie Louise Shull.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carol Welch Compton; children, Janice Compton and Suzanne Cruz of Houston, TX, Penny Karlinsky and husband, Nicholas of Greenfield, WI, and David Compton and wife, Penelope of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren, Steven Shull, Jonathan Shull, Katie Taylor and husband, Dustin, and Sara Kernes and husband, C.J.; great grandchildren, Steven Shull Jr., Carrie Shull, Dyana Shull, Suzanna Taylor, J.J. Summerall, Logan Summerall, and Daniel Kernes; sisters, Shirley Reno and husband, Lee, Betty Meyer, and Mollie McGuire; and canine companions, Gem and Lexi.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Lawndale Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Kilby officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Wednesday immediately following the service.
