Mrs. Oveda H. Chapman, age 93, passed away at Carolina Care Center on Sunday September 22, 2013. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Byers and Ada Hallman Mayhue. She was predeceased by two husbands, Mr. Herman Hoopaugh and Mr. Eddie McCoy Chapman; one brother Ben Mayhue; four sisters, Ann Cato, Helen Foster, Robby Lancaster, Hattie Mayhue and Aileen White.
Surviving is one son Randy Hoopaugh of Earl and one sister Mrs. Blanche McCurry of Shelby. Also surviving are a number of neices and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Chapman will be held Thursday September 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church, Earl, with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
