Peggy Greene Hewitt, age 82, of Emory Avenue, Forest City, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born on Monday, April 23, 1934 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Arrie D Greene and Tressie Davis Greene. She was a graduate of Cliffside High School, class of 1952 and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta. Peggy worked as a clerk for Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant for more than forty-five years. She enjoyed spending every day with the love of her life and soul mate, Mickey. Peggy's life was centered on her family, her friends and her church family. She also enjoyed having Sunday meals with those whom she loved.
Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Michael "Mickey" Hewitt; daughter, Jean H. Spence and husband, Jason of Bostic; son, Ricky Humphries and girlfriend, Gina Appling both of Forest City; one brother, Jimmy Greene and wife, Betty of Blacksburg, SC. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jonathan Humphries and fiancé, Rebecca Warner, Joshua Arrowood and wife, Megan, Seth Arrowood and wife, Cayla, Derek Humphries, Savanna Spence and boyfriend, Trey Clark; four great-grandchildren, Laela Humphries, Jasper Fagan, Maddox and Brody Arrowood.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Henrietta with Reverend Mike Cash, Reverend Lamar Hewitt, Reverend Ernie Cole and Joel Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
