Peggy Jean McDaniel Lutz
 Peggy Jean McDaniel Lutz, 61, of 611 Borders Road Apt. 4, passed away Wednesday, March 26th, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

Born in Shelby, she was the wife of Johannes Lucas Sebastianus "Hans" Lutz and the daughter of William Henry and Bernice McDaniel of Blacksburg and the late Dixie Newell Smith McDaniel. Peggy previously worked at Wallace Computers in Gastonia and as an administrative assistant for Hamick-Musgrove Mills, Eastman Chemical in the Netherlands, and she was formerly the executive assistant for the president of Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Lutz loved to paint and was an accomplished writer who loved writing poetry. She had four books published, with two of them based on Blacksburg. Mrs. Lutz was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Shelby.

In addition to her husband, father, and step-mother, Mrs. Lutz is survived by a son, Jason Broome, of Blacksburg; a daughter, Sara Broome, of Shelby; a sister, Patty Hughes, of Kings Mountain; a brother, Mark McDaniel, of Blacksburg; and three grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28th, 2014, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29th, at 2:00 pm at Landmark Baptist Church of Shelby with Rev. Alan Davis and Rev. Vernon Craig officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Sam Parker, Bill Parker Jr, Ricky McDaniel, Arthur Pruett, Jerron Daves, Zachary Parker, Kevin Jones, and Westley Walker will serve as pallbearers.
