Peggy Jeanette Gantt Heafner, 80 of W. Academy St. died Saturday Dec. 22, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was born in Gaston Co. on June 19, 1932, daughter of the late Ralph R. and Annie Mae Hastings Gantt. Mrs. Heafner was retired from Sweetree Mfg. with 30 years of service and former member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jack Bennett Heafner and a grandson Jason “Burger” Beam.
Survivors include her daughter Sandy Edwards and husband Leroy of Cherryville, a son Benny Heafner and wife Gloria of Cherryville, two grandsons Benjie and Willie Heafner fo Cherryville, and two great grandchildren Cheyenne and Savannah Heafner.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home at 3 PM with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:30-2:45 PM and at other times at the home of Sandy and Leroy Edwards, 704 Craig St.
