Perry Dean Carpenter, 86, of Delview Rd., died September 2, 2018 at Hospice at Wendover. He was born in Gaston County on February 2, 1932 to the late Perry George and Jessie Alice White Carpenter. Dean was a retired carpenter with Dixie Lumber Co., member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, American Legion Post 100, and the Traditional New Year's Shooters. He was an avid outdoorsman and belonged to the Peach Bottom Hunt Club. He served his country in the US Army in Korea.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Dale Carpenter and sister, Rachel Carpenter Beam.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Carpenter Carpenter; son Jimmy Dean Carpenter and wife Lisa of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Jade Carpenter; brothers, James Albert Carpenter of Lincolnton and Jerry Wade Carpenter and wife Pansy, of Shelby and nephew Denny Beam of Cherryville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Carpenter Porter Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 AM and at other times at the home.
