Peter Bennett King, 75, of 105 Springdale Street, Shelby and formerly of
Fairfax, Virginia passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Belaire Health
Care Center in Gastonia.
Born April 17, 1939 in Alexandria, VA he was a son of the late Bennett
William King and Barbara D. King. Mr. King graduated from the University of
Richmond in 1961, served in the US Army, US Army Reserves, and worked for
Bell Atlantic Corporation for 33 years before retiring. In retirement he was
the head coach for the girls basketball team at Fairfax High School and
later assistant coach for the women's team at Gardner Webb University.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patricia DePriest King; two sons,
Bennett King (Karla) of Asheville and Brent King (Sheda) of Cornelius; two
daughters, Jessica Schroeder (Corey) of Richmond, VA and Emily von Pfahl
(Peter) of Shelby; two brothers, Dennis King of Falmouth, ME and William B.
King (Nancy) of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; a sister, Ann Krum (Bruce) of
Mooresville and nine grandchildren.
Visitation: 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home &
Cremation Center, Fallston
Graveside Service: 3:30 PM, Sunday at Clover Hill United Methodist Church
