Phyllis Smith, 69, of 126 Brindle Street in the Cherokee Falls Community of Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord December 29, 2013, at Peachtree Centre, Gaffney, SC. Born in Cleveland County, NC, she was married to the late Joe Hicks Smith and was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Notra Bivens Roberts. She was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church and was formerly associated with Nestle's and Fibre Industries.
Left to cherish her memory are four sons - Joey Smith and fiancee', Shawna Oakes, of the home, Tony Smith of Shelby, NC, Tim Smith and wife, Cindi, of Shelby, NC, and Bud Allman and wife, Amy, of Fingerville, NC; three daughters - Carol Cobb and husband, Robert, of Gaffney, SC, Ann Magner and husband, Charles, of Gaffney, SC, and Debbie Chandler and husband, George, of Smyrna, SC; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother - Buddy Hamilton and wife, Margaret, of Cherryville, NC; and three sisters - Tillie Black of Cherryville, NC, Lu Marshall and husband, Ray, of Apawnee, OK, and Patricia McCain of Blacksburg, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother - Job Hamilton, and three sisters - Mary Whitaker, Lib Davis and Ruby Wray.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-7:30 PM at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church. A
Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013, 3:00 PM, at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Knotts officiating. Burial will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens. At other times, they will be at the home.
