Rachel Toney Jones, age 69, of Ellenboro, NC, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Fair Haven Home.

     Rachel was born on March 24, 1941 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Coran Justice Toney and Mozelle Jolley Toney. She worked as an office manager for Personnel Services Unlimited for many years and was an extension agent for the Cleveland County 4H club.  She taught Home Economics for the Cleveland County Schools and for East High School. She was also a seventh grade teacher.    She loved teaching children, ceramics, sewing, flower gardening, traveling and her cats.  She was a lifetime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she served as the church secretary.

     Survivors include her husband of 47 years, J.V. Jones; her step-mother, Emma Sue Toney; one son, Kelly Jones of Ellenboro and his friend Dawn Canipe. 

     Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend David Hawkins, Dr. Robert Toney and Reverend Mike Harrill officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the church fellowship hall.
