Mr. Ralph Rhyne Walters, 89, of 125  Country Club Rd., Shelby, NC passed away Monday, October 25,  2010. A Graveside Service was held in Cleveland Memorial Park. 

Mr. Walters served our country in the U.S. Navy – World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Meroney Walters; his parents, Carl Bernie and Henrietta Chester Walters; 2 brothers, Charles and Ray Walters; and 2 sisters, Margaret Jones and Caroleen Hoyle.

He is survived by 3 sons, Wayne Walters and wife Ann of Calhoun, GA, Bill Walters and wife, Lois of Nashville, TN, and Flynn Walters of Grover, NC; 1 daughter, Susan Walters Martin and husband Roger of Shelby; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Roger Hoyle and Tommy Meroney; 1 sister-in-law, Viola Walters; and special friend, Edith White.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC 28150; or to: Hospice Cleveland County, 953 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150; or to: The Gideons International, P.O. Box 1602, Shelby, NC 28151.
