"Randy" Carlos Rinald Fernandez, 67, of Shoal Rd., died August 9, 2022 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.

He was born in the Bronx, NY on Nov. 4, 1954. Randy was the son of the late Carlos and Mercedes Febo Fernandez. He was Viet Nam veteran of the US Air Force, employed at Lockheed Martin. Randy was a pilot and a ham radio operator with the call N8XXQ. He was a member of Crouse Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dellinger Fernandez; five daughters, Jessica Bourgeois(John) and two daughters of Florida, Stephani Tam (Ernie) and two daughters of Florida, Kelly Fernandez of Utah, Jennifer Whaley (Kevin) and eight children of Ohio, and Crystal Hickman (Bill) and three children of Ohio; three stepchildren, Jeff Sain (Nova) and two children of Pennsylvania, Carrie Murray (Doug) and one child and one grandchild of Grover and Daniel Sain and three children of Lincolnton; siblings, Barry Fernandez and Beverly Gilbert; and his service dog, Apache.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at Crouse Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 to 2:45 PM.
