SHELBY - Mr. Randy Scott Black, 53, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Scott is survived by his wife, Brenda Black of the home; parents, John and Linda Clary Black of Shelby; step-children, Richard and Robert Mowery of Shelby; one brother, Ronnie and wife Julissa Black of Shelby; six grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cody, Jessika, Tressa, Dominic and Andrew; one niece, Ansley Black and one nephew, Brandon Black.
Scott was a member of the Midnightsun Band for 20 years that was started in a basement between Shelby and Polkville, NC. It started as WHO KNOWS and was changed to Midnightsun Band. They played everywhere they could from grand openings and even on local television for the Kidney Association. Their music, to 40 old and new, could be heard by millions of people not just hundreds. Their favorite spot to play was in Charlotte and Lake Lure. Scott also enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He will be truly missed.
A 3:00 pm celebration of life service was held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Getsemani Baptist Church, 5700 Fallston Road, Lawndale, NC 28090 with the Rev. Jose Espinal officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
