Ray Augustus Daves, age 83 died Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare Cleveland. Born in Cleveland County on April 9, 1933 he was the son of the late Horace and Myrtle Guffey Daves. Ray was a member of Boiling Springs United Methodist Church. Ray worked at AT&T for 38 years as an installation manager and retired from Boiling Springs Fire Department. He coached Little League Baseball for a number of years. In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Daves; and a sister, Aileen Hamrick.

Ray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lou Bridges Daves; two sons, Jimmy Ray Daves and wife Judy of Gaffney SC and Bill Daves and wife Julie of Boiling Springs; two daughters, Betty Daves of Boiling Springs and Lisa McFarland of Boiling Springs; a sister, Frances Horne of Tryon; seven grandchildren, Melanie Daves Williams and husband Brian, Ashley Daves, O. J. McFarland and wife Lauren, Catie Daves Stitzel and husband Austin, Adam McFarland and wife Kristy, Caleb McFarland and wife Haylee, and Laura Daves Toms and husband Frank; sister-in-law, Saralyn Daves of Mooresboro; and eight great grandchildren, Dylan Williams, Marcus Williams, Caroline Williams, Kerry Williams, Becca Champion, Maggie Champion, Grady Nodine and Will Stitzel.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Carroll Page officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
