Reba Avalona Thompson Newton

Reba Avalona Thompson Newton, 83, of Casar Road, Casar, passed away on
Friday, February 1, 2019 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, on March 10, 1935, she was a daughter of the late
William Wesley Thompson and Ossie Estalle Bivens Thompson. She was retired
from Kemet and was a member of Clover Hill United Methodist Church. She
loved to watch her Atlanta Braves play ball.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Phillip
Gerald Newton; two brothers Vernon Thompson and Eugene Thompson; and four
sisters, Avis Jones, Hazel Hord, Effie Mae Brown, and Rosalee McCombs.

She is survived by her son, Cris Newton and wife Carla of Las Vegas, NV;
daughter, Dawn Cape and husband Mike of Casar; brother, Glenn Thompson of
Kings Mountain; five grandchildren, Heather Newton, Jimi Bivins, Ashley
Bivins, Jared Cape and wife Holly, and Jordan Cape and wife Amy; nine great
grandchildren, Gavin Harmon, Ashlin Smith, Dylan Bivins, Jeremiah Aguero,
Ryleigh Cape, Roxy Cape, Savannah, Cape, Bree Cape, and Madison Cape.

The family will receive friends on Sunday form 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Clover
Hill United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 PM at Clover Hill United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Eddie Padgett and Rev. Doug Pruett
officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
