Regina Black Wofford, 91 of Harrilson Rd., formerly of St. Mark’s Church Rd. died August 10, 2013 at Carolina Care Center. She was born on Nov. 22, 1921 in Gaston Co., a daughter of the late Elias Carr and Bryte Plonk Black.
Mrs. Wofford was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young at Heart Group, and a retired lifelong educator, teacher, and leader of young minds, having taught at Tryon, Kannapolis, Kings Mountain, and South Carolina Schools.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Carroll Landon Wofford in 2009 and a brother E.C. Black
Survivors include her son Kenneth and Patricia Wofford of Newton, granddaughter Landis Taylor and husband Gabe of Linville, a sister Meta Power of Conover and a sister in law Carol Black of Merritt Island, Fl.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Robbins officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday at the Family Life Center of the church from 10-10:45 AM.
