Rev. Joe Carson Kanipe, 86, of Ferry Road, Mooresboro, NC passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Services were held at Race Path Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military honors by Rutherford County Honor Guard.
Mr. Kanipe served our country in the U.S. Navy, serving on the Aircraft Carrier Benton during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Helen B. Kanipe; and his parents, Z.L. and Belle Lauchridge Kanipe.
He is survived by his 2nd wife, Eloise Bailey Kanipe of the home; 2 sons, Harold Kanipe of Shelby and Jerry Kanipe of Salisbury; 1 daughter, Linda Shelby of Clarksville, TN; 1 step-son, Ricky Cash of Mooresboro, NC; 1 sister, Hessie Bowman of Shelby; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
