Rev. Max S. Clark Sr., age 83, of Hephzibah Church Road died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  He was born on May 5, 1931 in Gaston County to the late Christopher Sylvanus and Ruth Pasour Clark.  Rev. Clark was ordained in the early 1980’s and was a retired minister of the First Assembly of God in Shelby.  Before the ministry, he and his late wife, Dot, were owners of Modern TV and Appliance. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy Sue Carpenter Clark; brothers, Glenn and Roy Clark; and sisters, Eva and Faye Clark.

 

Survivors include his son, Max S. Clark Jr., and wife, Rita Absher Clark of Kings Mountain; grandson, Wesley D. Clark and wife, Melissa Hudson Clark of Simpsonville, SC; brother, Clyne Paul Clark and wife, Peggy of Bessemer City; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Hephzibah ARP Church with Rev. Ralph Dale and Rev. Lee Russell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:45 to 3:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
