Rev. Robert L. “Bob” Hicklin

Rev. Robert L. “Bob” Hicklin, age 81, resident of 527 Katherine Ave. Kings Mountain, NC died April 7, 2012 at Kings Mountain Hospital.  He was born in Burlington, NC to the late Robert E. Hicklin and Alice Lisk Hicklin.  He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers.   Mr. Hicklin was a retired minister.  He has been a minister since May 2, 1965, pastoring several churches in the area including Faith Baptist Church, Kings Mtn.   He was a member of Gaston Christian Church, Belmont, NC where he served as Elder and Sunday School teacher.  A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who served in the United States Navy for 3 years, Air Force for 4 years, and the N.C. National Guard for 8 years.  Mr. Hicklin was a truck driver and pilot and served as Chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol. 

SURVIVORS: Wife of 59 years: Billie Kinlaw Hicklin, Kings Mtn. NC

Son: Cliff L. Hicklin and wife Barbara, Delmar, DE

Daughter: Karen Hicklin Ward, and husband the late Gary Ward, Valdese, NC

6 Grandchildren: Dwayne Ward and wife Tanya, Daryl Ward and wife Heather, Chris Hicklin and wife Kelly, Andy Hicklin, Jeff Hicklin and wife Ginger, and Scott Hicklin.

6 Great Grandchildren: DJ Ward, Wesley Ward, Nikalus Ward, Shea Ward, Ivey Ward, and Tristin Hicklin.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, April 11, 2012

  2:00 P.M.   Rev. Scott Patterson, Rev. Clifton Kinlaw, and Rev. James Hamrick officiating.

VISITATION: 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Tuesay evening, April 10, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, North Carolina

INTERMENT with Military Honors provided by The Marine Corp League, Foothills Detachment: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
