Mr. Richard Baker “Bud” McFarland, 86, of 129 Hopewell Rd., Ellenboro, NC, passed away, Sunday, May 16, 2010. Services were held at Bethel Baptist Church, Ellenboro, NC. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
Mr. McFarland served our country in the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was preceded in death by is parents, John Edgar and Rosa Lee Nanny McFarland; 1 brother, Paul McFarland; and 1 sister, Helen Weiss.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Waters McFarland; 1 daughter, Brenda Toney and husband Philip of Ellenboro; 2 sisters, Eloise Raney and Francis Baker, both of Charlotte; 2 granddaughters; 1 “adopted” grandson; and 3 great-grandchildren.
