Cherryville - Mr. Richard Denn Runyon, 100, of 111 Harrilson Road passed
away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Carolina Care Center.

Mr. Runyon was born in Luzurene County, PA on January 5, 1915 a son of the
late George L. Runyon and Lillian Denn Runyon. He was of the Presbyterian
faith. In the 1940's and 1950's he worked for the Philadelphia Police
Department. Mr. Runyon moved to Asheville, NC and worked for Memorial
Mission Hospital in Asheville and retired as Assistant Director.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy
Elizabeth Taylor Runyon; a daughter, Rochelle Runyon Dellinger; three
brothers, Roy and George Runyon and Jimmy Verdoline.

Survivors include a daughter, Violet Haug of Philadelphia, PA; a sister,
Lillian Scampane of Pleasant Hill, CA; four grandchildren; Eric Haug, Karen
Haug, Richard Todd Dellinger, Phillip Taylor Dellinger and Phillip Matthew
Dellinger and six great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at
Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Key officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Friendship Sunday School Class, c/o Mt. Zion
Baptist Church, 112 Mt. Zion Church Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
