Richard “Dick” Nelson Howell, Sr., 73, passed away April 29, 2014, at his home. Born Jan. 22, 1941, he was the son of the late James Howell and Mamie Correll Howell.
Mr. Howell was a native of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., Catoosa County, and was the owner and operator of Howell’s Welding Service. Mr. Howell was of the Baptist Faith and also served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmie Howell, Billy T. Howell and James “Dud” Howell; and sister, Peggy Mullinax.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Esther Lineberger Howell of the home; son and daughters-in-law, William “Billy” Luther Howell and Amy of Shelby and Richard “Dicky” Nelson Howell Jr. and Kim of Shelby; and grandchildren, B.J. Howell, Tiffany Howell, Bella Howell, Autumn Howell, Logan Howell, Caleb Venable and Clay Venable.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel

Interment: Cleveland Memorial Park with military rites
