Richard "Dick" Samuel Hord, Jr.
Richard "Dick" Samuel Hord, Jr., 64, of 529 Oak Grove Clover Hill Church Road, Lawndale, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at his home.

Born in Cleveland County on October 12, 1949, he was a son of  Richard S. Hord Sr. and Betty Lee Hord of Lawndale.  Dick was owner and operator of Hord's Garage in Lawndale. He was a member of First United Methodist Church
of Lawndale, served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a retiree and former chief of Lawndale Volunteer Fire Department.  Dick was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed countless hours of fishing.  

In addition to his parents,  he is survived by his wife of forty-four years,  Jane Cloninger Hord; son, Richard Hord III of Lawndale; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and David Gorski  of Lawndale; a precious granddaughter, Anna Caroline Gorski; sisters, Sandy Melton and husband, Bobby and Betsy Jones and husband, Mark all of Shelby; brother-in-law, Harrill Cloninger of Chapel Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:30 to  8:00 pm Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.  A guest register is available at

Funeral: The funeral will be 11:00 am Monday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston with Revs. David Hiatt and Rebekah Shuford officiating.   

Burial:  Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston.
