Richard Gilbert Beam, age 87, of Requa Road, died December 26, 2013 at Peak Resources, Cherryville. He was born in Gaston County, August 11, 1926 a son of the late William Blaine and Georgie Beam Beam. Richard was a WWII Veteran of the US Army and was retired from Carolina Freight after 30 years of service.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Zoe Ann Clark Beam, brothers, John David Beam and Quinn Baxter Beam and a sister, Sue Beam Ledford.
Survivors include a son Scott Beam (Vicki) of Shelby, a grandson, Mason Beam of Shelby and a great grandson Patrick numerous nieces and nephews, Sisters, Judy Bingham (Jack) Catherine Goins, Martha Ann Cornwell (Richard), Marlene Browne (Sherman) all of Cherryville, Margaret Smith, of Waco.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eric Pfeifer officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the home 809 Requa Road, Cherryville. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.
