Born in Rockford, IL on July 5, 1955, he was a son of the late Robert Leon Franklin and Lillian Imogene Steelman Brower. He was a handyman for McMurry Furniture and worked on an oil rig as a derrik hand.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Franklin and Donald Benjamin Franklin.

Survivors include one son, Jonathan Richard Franklin of Virginia, three daughters, Jessica Lynn Carpenter and Trinty Nicole Hess both of Virginia, and Jessica Lee Helton of Casar, one brother, Freddie Brower of Casar, two sisters, Kathy McCaslin of Newton and Bonnie Jean Franklin of Hickory, and four grandchildren, Keara Mahala, Damon Carpenter, Baylee Franklin, and Johnathan Hess.

Visitation will be 2:00PM until 3:00PM Sunday March 23, 2014 at Stamey Funeral Home.

The memorial service will be Sunday at 3:00PM at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Baker officiating.

Burial will be private.
