Richard Paul "Bud" Johnson, 80, of Vale passed away Sunday, May 29, at
Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a son of Robert Paul Johnson and Mary Ethel
Hull Johnson Hoyle. Mr. Johnson was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers
Corporation and attended Hull's Grove Baptist Church. An avid horseman, he
had a love for breeding, raising and riding horses.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by two
sisters, Helen Taylor and Clara Nell Brendle.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Guy Ann Hull Johnson; two
sons, Bruce Johnson and wife Pam of Vale and Keith Johnson and wife Lynn of
Iron Station; daughter, DeAnna Warlick and husband Mike of Vale; sister,
Belinda Watts of Cherryville and two grandchildren, Amanda Johnson and Cole
Warlick.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Tuesday at Stamey Funeral
Home in Fallston.
The funeral will be at 4:00 PM Wednesday at Hull's Grove Baptist Church in
Vale with Rev. Marcus Redding officiating. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the
service.
