Rick Dean McKenzie

Rick Dean McKenzie, 62, of 820 Grace Street, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC. He was born on August 28, 1952 in Wadesboro, NC, the son of Blanche Williams Bailey and the late Arthur Vernon McKenzie. He attended school in Charlotte and Asheville, NC. He was employed by R.L. Raffaldt Trucking of Concord; he had driven a truck for many years. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Minot, North Dakota. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and had stated that he was ready to go when the Lord called him home. Rick loved sports of all kinds; he played baseball in school and was a fan of Nascar racing. He enjoyed playing golf with his brothers and friends. The family extends their sincere and grateful thanks to the Robin Johnson Hospice House staff for their excellent care. 

PRECEDED: in addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Clara Williams; brooks McKenzie and Bessie Deese.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kerry Prater McKenzie of the home, son, Richard Dean McKenzie and wife Dawn; two daughters, Hayley Dawn McKenzie of the home, Christina Phillips and husband Donnie Robinson; two grandchildren, Maddox Robinson and Brittany Nicole Robinson; three brothers, Gene, Dale, and Kevin McKenzie; two sisters, Debbie and Audrea. 

SERVICES: A celebration of life service will be held 7:00 pm Wednesday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

CLERGY: Pastor Josh Ruiz will officiate.

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to The Robin Johnson Hospice House, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC, 28054
