Robert (Bob) Carlisle Moorhead

Greenville, SC -- Robert (Bob) Carlisle Moorhead, 80, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 14, 1944, in Gastonia, North Carolina, Bob lived a life defined by service, dedication, and quiet strength. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob served as a pilot during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Captain. He flew C-141 transport aircraft across the Atlantic and Pacific, delivering vital supplies to troops and bringing fallen servicemen and women home to their loved ones. He spoke often and with great pride of his time in the Air Force--a chapter of his life his family deeply honors.

After his military service, Bob built a second career as a Certified Public Accountant, founding his own firm in 1980. He loved his work and the people he served, always going above and beyond to support his clients in any way he could. His legacy continues through the firm, which remains a trusted and thriving practice with a second location now in Greenville.

Bob was a devoted father to his two daughters, Robyn and Tate, and a proud grandfather to Matthew and Jacob Nicolini and Claire and Lauren Binger. He shared 34 years of marriage with Elizabeth (Betsy) Brittain, with whom he remained close until his passing. Their strong bond and enduring friendship were a source of comfort and joy to their family. In recent years, Robyn and Tate lovingly cared for their father, forming a deep and cherished bond with him during that time. Their dedication was a reflection of the same love and commitment Bob had always shown his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Carlisle and Margaret Moorhead; his sister, Carol Moorhead Wilkins; his brother, Richard "Dickie" Moorhead; and his beloved aunt, Eloise Dempsey.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel. All who knew and loved Bob are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory.

Bob was a long-time supporter of Meals on Wheels of Cherokee County and a devoted advocate for dog rescue--especially inspired by Tate's passion for animals. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Carmen's Rescue, 108 Webbington Place, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or Meals on Wheels of Cherokee County, 403 W Montgomery St, Gaffney, SC 29341.

Bob will be remembered for his integrity, his generosity, and the quiet but powerful way he touched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in his family, his community, and in the many lives he helped along the way.
