Robert "Bob" Donald Dellinger, Sr., age 80, of Harrilson Rd. passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Somerset Court. He was born October 27, 1936 in Gaston County to the late Marcus Wesley and Annie Mae Henry Dellinger. Bob worked for Carolina Freight and was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a deacon of the church and member of Brotherhood of Mt. Zion and loved to fish.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Brackett Dellinger; siblings, Hugh Dellinger, Joe Dellinger, Alma Beam, Lois McSwain, Helen Ross, Lillian Whitesides and Merle Carpenter; and daughter-in-law, Tonda Pruitt Dellinger.
He is survived by his children, Donnie Dellinger, Jr. of Cherryville and Teri Gibson and husband, Joe of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Brian Gibson and wife, Melissa of Charlotte, Annie Walker and husband, Heath of Cherryville and Kimberly Batchelor and husband, Eddie of Nashville, NC; great-grandchildren, Maggie Gibson, Tyler Batchelor, Griffin Sauls, Alina Batchelor, Shyanne Dellinger and Joy Batchelor; brother, Charles Dellinger and wife, Betty along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 112 Mt Zion Church Rd, Cherryville, NC 28021.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday evening at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
