Robert Decatur "Bob" Elmore, 87, of 547 Belwood-Lawndale Rd, Lawndale,
passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center
in Shelby.
Born August 21, 1924 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late
Decatur Elmore and Lula Warlick Elmore. Bob was founder of Elmore's Feed
and Seed and was a lifetime member of Kistler's United Methodist Church. He
served on the advisory board of BB & T, the board of Cleveland Memorial
Hospital, the initial board of directors for the Upper Cleveland County
Sanitary District, the Cleveland County Planning Board and also a member of
the Cleveland County Cattleman's Association.
He enjoyed farming, fishing, raising cattle and spending winters in
Florida. Bob also relished time spent with his grandchildren, whom he
dearly loved.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two
brothers, Ira Elmore and Johnny Elmore; and four sisters, Ethel Hartigan,
Verna Joyner, Mae Abernethy and Ruth Balentine.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Coye Peeler Elmore; son, Robert
Michael Elmore and wife Kathy of Lawndale; two daughters, Linda Goforth and
husband Richard of Shelby and Susan Mills and husband Hardee of Greensboro;
sister Ann Falls of Irmo, SC; eight grandchildren Emily Elmore Browne and
husband Doug, Lu Goforth Collazo and husband Walter, Graham Elmore and
fiancee' Priscilla Gay, Adam Elmore and wife Elizabeth, Alex Goforth, Laura
Mills Blackwell and husband Burns, Ben Goforth and Gracie Mills; and two
great-grandchildren Douglas Miller Browne and Robert Grady Browne.
Visitation: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, Sunday, Kistler's United Methodist Church
Fellowship Hall, Lawndale.
Funeral Service: 3:00 PM, Sunday, Kistler's United Methodist Church,
Lawndale.
Officiating: Dr. Tim Elmore & Rev. David Hiatt
Burial: Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston
