Mr. Robert James Allen, Sr., 83, of Shelby, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Services were held at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery.
Mr. Allen served our country in the U.S. Navy, served on the USS Specter AM306.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Querry and Lucy Birdella Beagle Allen; 1 son, Robert Allen, Jr.; and 1 sister, Betty Joyce McCoy.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dotson Allen; 2 daughters, Shelia Bell and Debbie Braswell, both of Kings Mountain; 1 brother, Grady R. Allen and wife Shelbie of Shelby; 1 sister, Kay Kiser and husband Bill of Shelby; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, a nephew, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
