Robert Keith Ellis (aka Dixie Rebel), 68, of 148 Roark Road, Blacksburg, SC, died December 20, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the husband of Annette Westmoreland Ellis of the home and a son of the late Johnny Robert and Thelma Roark Ellis. He was an owner/ operator truck driver. He was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church. In addition to trucking, he enjoyed pier fishing and hunting.
In addition to his wife, Annette, he is survived by his children Christy Ellis Jones and husband, Steven, of Hickory Grove, SC, Rachel Ellis Anthony and husband, Travis, of Hayesville, NC, Michelle Westmoreland Peterson and husband, Allen, and Billie "Cookie" Westmoreland Panceroff and husband, Greg, all of Blacksburg, SC; grandchildren - Erica Peterson, Lacie Mullinax King, Cody Mullinax, Cheyenne Mullinax, Taylor Jones, Aaron Jones, Clayton Childers and Bryce Childers; great-grandchild - Juliyen King; sister- Linda Harris of Blacksburg, SC, sister-in-law - Agnes Ellis of Blacksburg, SC; and former wife - Sherry Edwards Philbeck of Blacksburg, SC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother - Butch Ellis and sister - Kathy Ellis Beattie.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 4:30-6:30 PM at White Columns. A graveside Celebration Of Life Service will be held December 24, 2016, 1:00 PM, at Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery with Cody Mullinax and Kiley Mullinax officiating. At other times, they will be at 182 Roark Road, Blacksburg, SC.
Pallbearers serving are Tom Philbeck, Matthew McDaniel, Jonathan Harris, Josh Harris, Robbie Beattie, Bryce Childers, Cody Mullinax and Clayton Childers.
