Robert Leon Roberts
Minister Robert Leon Roberts, 61, of 1611 Long Branch Rd. Grover, NC passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at his residence.  He was born on July 25, 1951 in Cherokee County, SC to Lula Mae Roberts and the late Amos Belton Roberts, Sr.

Leon was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and was attending the Greater Gaston Baptist Association.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Baptist Church and was the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Earl for twenty-nine years.  His musical involvement also included being a member of the Gospel I Q’s of Grover for 50 years.

Leon was a very dedicated person and was employed with Daimler, formerly Freightliner, for 30 years.  In addition to being dedicated, Leon was an encouraging and praying person who liked to use his words wisely when he spoke. His pastimes included fishing, traveling and gardening.

On December 20, 1975, he married his wife, Deborah Allison Roberts after much persistence.  They remained faithfully committed to each other until his passing.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, of 37 years, Deborah Roberts; his mother, Lula Mae Roberts of Grover; two sons, Leon K. Roberts (Aria) of Charlotte, NC and Jermaine Littlejohn of Silver Springs, MD; two grandchildren, Kae’lyn Roberts of Charlotte and Xavier Littlejohn of Denver, CO; one Godson, Demarco Adams of Kings Mountain, NC; his mother-in-law, Lenora Allison of Shelby, NC; his brothers and sisters, Amos Belton Roberts, Jr. (Barbara), Rev. Elwood Roberts (Edna) both of Kings Mountain, NC, Mahalia Roberts and James Roberts, Sr. (Jackie) both of Grover, Minister Geraldine Logan (Minister Hazel) of Kings Mountain, Minister Dora Houze (Rev. Bobby) of Charlotte, Apostle Kathy Feemster (Apostle Theron) of Cramerton, NC and Odus Roberts (Patricia) of Kings Mountain; sisters-in-law, Rose Watkins (Broadus) of Gastonia, NC, Jackie Allison of Shelby and Doris Hopper (James) of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Jerome Allison (Ann) of Shelby; two aunts, Selena Boulware and Laura Williamson both of Shelby; special family friend, Nancy Kilgore of Gastonia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 3:00 PM at St. Peter’s Baptist Church with Pastor William Thompson delivering the eulogy.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church on Monday and at other times at the home.
