Robert Michael Blitz

BOILING SPRINGS - Robert Michael Blitz, age 71, of Boiling Springs (Shelby) NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2018. He was born on February 8th, 1947 to James and Beatrice Blitz in Garden City, Michigan.

He proudly served with fighter squadron VF-103 on board the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga during Vietnam and the Israeli Six-Day War. Returning home, he attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. Bob then had a full career of 32 years at Southwest Electronics Energy in Houston, TX. He retired in 2014 and moved to North Carolina to be closer to his family. There, he enjoyed his new property, working to clear trees, and being with his grandsons fishing and riding ATVs. He was an active member at Trinity Baptist Church and volunteered at Boiling Springs Elementary School where he enjoyed helping the kids learn to read and participating in extra events like dressing up as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

He is predeceased by his parents, step-father, Maynard Seim and step-brother, Ron Seim.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Betty "Carolyn" Blitz, of the home; children, Tom Blitz (Michelle) and Lori Granniss (David); grandchildren, Erin West (Jesse), Makenzie Blitz, Landon Granniss and Logan Granniss; great-grandson, Micah West. Bob is also survived by his siblings, James Blitz (Vicki), David Blitz (Mickey), Carol Holdren, Mary Breschini (Victor), Mike Blitz (Marsha), and Sande Seim (James); step-brothers, Ted Seim, Ken Seim (Nancy) and Jim Seim (Kitty); several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 704 Trinity Church Road, Mooresboro, NC 28114 on Friday, November 09, 2018 at 11:00 AM with full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 704 Trinity Church Road, Mooresboro, NC 28114.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert Morgan Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC of Boiling Springs, NC.
