Robert Reid Lackey, Jr.,
 Mr. Robert Reid Lackey, Jr., 91, died on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at home.  A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert Reid Lackey Sr. and Rose Elizabeth Peeler Lackey.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Mr. Lackey was a Marine during WWII when the bomb was dropped saving many lives.  He was a member of the 5th Marine Division first wave of the occupation of Japan.  He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.

Mr. Lackey is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a brother, Norris Lackey and a sister, Elizabeth Lackey Hamrick.

Mr. Lackey is survived by his wife Polly Bridges Lackey; one son, David Michael Lackey, wife Geri of Georgia; a daughter Jan Irene Lackey of Chicago; four grandchildren, Michael Lackey, Mark Lackey, Jodi Williams, Jenni Snow; and seven great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 4:00 PM. Dr. Timothy Sims will be officiating. Burial will be at Sunset cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00- 4:00pm in the church sanctuary.
